Jeanette Williams Foundation
Presents $25,000 Check To UTMB Camp For All

50 children will attend Camp For All in Burton, Texas this summer

June 22, 2011 (Clear Lake) — Thanks to our generous sponsors and gracious donations, the Jeanette Williams Foundation has presented a check  to UTMB Galveston's Camp For All, which will enable fifty children being treated for cancer and blood disorders at UTMB-Galveston to attend Camp For All in Burton, Texas this summer. "Our April fundraiser, Champagne Wishes, was such a huge success that we are able to send twenty more campers this year than last year!" said JWF's founder, Dianne Troop. "It makes me incredibly happy to give this money to UTMB's Camp For All, knowing that we are going to brighten the lives of so many kids who have to endure weeks and months in the hospital fighting cancer."

The Jeanette Williams Foundation, named after Troop's mother, will celebrate its 10th year in 2012.  "This year's fundraiser was big, but we're hoping to grow the event each year," Troop said. "We want to send more and more children to Camp For All."

The camp’s activities include horseback riding, basketball, rock climbing and ropes. There is also a pool, chapel, petting zoo, baseball field as well as a tree house complete with a ramp for children in wheelchairs. The campground is located in a wooded area with cabins for campers and larger facilities for meals and entertainment as well as a crafts facility and kitchen for cooking and baking classes. Because these campers have special needs, comprehensive medical facilities (with doctors and nurses onsite) are built amongst the trails and walkways. "It is truly an amazing place, and when you see the smiles on the campers face, you just want every child in the hospital to be able to experience it," Troop said.
